On February 20, 1864, the 54th Massachusetts arrived in Jacksonville, Florida as a stopping point before going on to fight in the Battle of Olustee. Here, the Quartermaster for the regiment, John Richie, helped supply the soldiers before they headed into battle.
This photograph of a Quartermaster Depot is included in Captain Luis Emilio’s collection of photographs related to the regiment, now at the Massachusetts Historical Society.
